Rotating Failed Retaining Walls - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #82

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vchAO1EYkQ4 Happy Monday! We're back after the long weekend with more on repairing retaining walls! In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses how our team can rotate failed retaining walls back into position. Our team will typically excavate behind the retaining wall to make room for the retaining wall to move back into its original position. Next our team will install helical piers vertically next to the retaining wall's footing, and lift the front of the footing. Each situation is going to be different, but it's usually a pretty fast and effective method to repair a retaining wall and prevent a homeowner from having to completely replace it. ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at ...

Designs of Retaining Walls - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #78

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4XfUWCgTDw Did you see yesterday's episode about the functions of retaining walls? In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses the designs of retaining walls along with some important factors that go into making a retaining wall that won't need to be repaired a few years down the road. The height is one of the most important... You don't want it too high on the slope because it won't have the ability to retain much soil, and you don't want it too low on the slope because the soils will go right over the retaining wall. The correct height would be right at the toe of the slope in order to maximize the wall's retaining abilities! ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at 877-3...

Foundation Repair Terminology - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #74

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2rFXj5Bt4Y Earlier this week we introduced ICC, ESR, and LARR reports for all the products we use to repair foundations and lift homes. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay we have a special guest joining Justin and they discuss some of the terms used throughout our industry that may be a little bit confusing to some. Brandon, from ECP, defines things like a KIP, K factor, and different strengths. A kip equates to 1000 pounds, which is surprisingly pretty simple... A K Factor tell us how the torque correlates to the ultimate capacity of a pile while we are installing piers. Ultimate torsional strength is the maximum torque capacity of an individual pier. Lastly, Ultimate capacity is what we get when we put each of those factors together. Stay tuned for tomorrow's episode... Brandon will be back providing more education! ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles,...

What is an ICC Certification? - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #72

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=labOQHn8TQg We've previously talked about ICC, ESR, and LARR for our foundation repair products. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses ICC, or International Code Council, who's an independent 3rd party that evaluate products. They test the capacities given by manufactures for any given product, and in our situation our Push Piers and Helical Piers must be ICC certified. If our push pier is rated for 70 kips, the ICC will test the push pier to failure and ensure the pier is properly rated by ECP. Next time we'll be talking about the importance of ICC Certifications! ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at 877-360-9227 and schedule your free, no-obligation foundation inspection wit...

ICC and LARR's for Foundation Repair - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #71

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThN2jpY-Al4 Happy Monday!! We hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! We've previously talked about the permit process and how it differs in each city. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses what type of ratings an engineer looks for when designing a repair plan with our products. The most common thing is an ICC rating, followed by an ESR number, and in LA an LARR. In the upcoming episodes Brian will break down each of these and what they mean for a homeowner during a foundation repair project. ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at 877-360-9227 and schedule your free, no-obligation foundation inspection with one of our knowledgeable Project Consultants. ----------------------------------...

When To Use Push Piers vs Helical Piers - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #68

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SVzO8YKhIc Happy Halloween!👻 Yesterday Brian explained round shaft anchors and how they differ from square shaft anchors. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses push piers versus helical piers! We utilize both in various different applications, but they are far from the same thing. In the next few episodes we will be breaking down how our team uses each of them to stabilize and lift homes throughout Southern California! ------------------------------------ For more information regarding foundation repair in Southern California pl...

When to Use Helical Piers - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #70

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCZ1xpHpbGE Happy Friday!!! Yesterday Brian talked about when we would utilize push piers during a foundation repair project. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses when an application would call for the use of helical piers! We'll typically use helical anchors on lighter structures, because push piers require hydraulically driving the piers off of the foundation. As you've seen in our past videos, the helical anchors have a helix and are hydraulically screwed into the ground at various depths depending on the project. Additionally, some cities and counties have specific requirements for certifications for the products we use... Next week Brian will dive into all the different certifications and how our products are tested. ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation...

When to Use PUSH PIERS - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #69

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgGQX3rNx5c Did you know we've utilized push piers to lift a home almost 11 entire inches? Yesterday Brian talked about push piers vs helical piers. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses when an application should use push piers. We typically use push piers when we are going to be attempting to lift a foundation, but it's important to note that the structure we are lifting or stabilizing is heavy enough to allow us to drive the piers off of the structure into the soil. Things like porch stoops or columns are too light for push piers and will require using helical piers, because we want to make the correct fix for our clients the first time! ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at 877...

What Are Square Shaft Anchors - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #66

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRfnTsLWJYE Happy Monday!!! Last week Brian introduced the two different helical anchor systems that we use to repair foundations throughout Southern California. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses square shaft anchors and when they are used over round shaft anchors. Square shaft anchors are great for tie-back anchoring situations because of its ability to withstand tension forces. They don't work very well for vertical loads, and will often bend and buckle if used in vertical applications.

What Are Round Shaft Anchors - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #67

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spfuu6mBRKs Yesterday Brian filled us in on square shaft helicals along with how and when they're used. In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses round shaft helical anchors and how utilize them for vertical loads. The round shaft helicals are able to absorb the eccentric and lateral loads in vertical orientations much more efficiently than their square counterparts. One thing to remember is that round shaft anchors will experience skin friction, which often prevents them from being installed to the same depths as the square shafts. ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at 877-360-9227 and schedule your free, no-obligation foundation inspection with one of our knowledgeable Project Consultant...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itIQyF7EU0Y Did you know there are two different types of helical anchor systems? In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian talks about helical anchor systems and how we utilize the two of them on a weekly basis for our foundation repair projects. We'll get into the differences and applications of both square shaft and round shaft helicals in the next episodes! ------------------------------------ For more information regarding foundation repair in Southern California please visit our website: http://www.dalinghausconstruction.com http://ww...

8 Inch Helical Anchors - New Construction Foundation Repair

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UddaZ5goG4o Did you see our raw POV video from the perspective of the drive head? We recently visited Brian, Tony, and Anthony as they installed a few 8" diameter helical piers to depths averaging nearly 30 feet. Tony used our Cat mini excavator to pre-drill the helical anchor locations because there was a tough hardpan layer about 12 feet below the soils surface. The pre-drilling made installation of the helical anchors a breeze! For installation of the anchors our team was using one of Quinn Cat's 323 Excavators with a Pro-Dig drive head.... That thing is one BIG piece of equipment! More to come from this fun project soon! 🎥📸🏗 ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at 877-360-9227 and schedule your free...

Who Uses ICC Reports? - Foundation Repair Tip Of The Day #73

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9lsLav5OdA 🐪Happy Hump Day from Dalinghaus🐪 In today's #FoundationRepair #TipOfTheDay Brian discusses who uses the ICC reports that he introduced in yesterday's episode. The ICC, or International Code Council, is an independent 3rd party that evaluates products. The most common time ICC reports are used is when a City Official or engineering team evaluating or designing the repair plan for the foundation repair project. The City Officials will be verify and validate that the capacities on the reports match up with the needed capacities calculated during the design phase. ------------------------------------ Dalinghaus Construction proudly services customers in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties.  If you think your home may be suffering from foundation settlement, visit our website www.dalinghausconstruction.com,  call us today at 877-360-9227 and schedule your free, no-obligation foundation inspection with one of our knowle...
